Hey Everyone!
On this week’s episode of Jane and Jesus, Karen sits down with Professor Devoney Looser (roller skater name, Stone Cold Jane Austen) to discuss Jane Austen’s revolutionary portrayal of Lydia Bennet, forgiveness, and what Austen's novels teach us about how to live a meaningful life in a world that's often deeply unfair.
Check out Karen and Professor Looser’s full discussion on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you stream your podcasts.
Did You Know
Jane Austen says that Lydia has "high animal spirits and a sort of natural self-consequence" which is Austen’s subtle way of satirizing people who think they are all that. We all know people like that, don’t we? This is what makes Austen’s novels so relatable even today: the people in her world can also be found in ours.
Trivia Question of the Week
